Dr. Nolan is an Associate Professor in the UC College of Medicine and a nationally recognized scholar in grief and quality-of-life research. She holds a doctorate with a focus in Prevention Psychology and a master’s degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences. Dr. Nolan has led and contributed to numerous research studies, publications, and presentations addressing grief, trauma, loss, and complex life transitions across clinical, community, and global settings.
In her practice, Dr. Nolan integrates a variety of evidence-based interventions, thoughtfully tailored to each client’s needs and lived experience. Her approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to support insight, coping, and cognitive flexibility, as well as Internal Family Systems (IFS)–informed parts work to help clients understand and compassionately relate to the different parts of themselves shaped by grief and trauma. She also incorporates somatic therapeutic interventions, including Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES), to support nervous system regulation alongside emotional processing and meaning-making.
Dr. Nolan is also certified in Meaning-Centered Therapy and is an Advanced Certified Grief Recovery Specialist, allowing her to offer care that is both scientifically grounded and deeply attuned to the whole person—mind, body, and meaning.
